ARTS WEEK 30th November- 4th December
The College celebrates the Arts and recognizes the importance of the Arts in education.
Monday 30th November
The transition years (15/16 year olds) in our school attended a play performed by a French Theatre Company. It was a very funny, lively performance all the parts being played by only four actors and some of the students who volunteered to participate.
Thursday 3rd December
In the morning there was a “Ceili” organized for the 1st years (12/13 year olds), this is traditional Irish dancing.
From 2.40-4pm there were workshops for the 6th years (18/19year olds). These workshops included Music, a Dance workshop and a Sculpture workshop.
From 6-8pm some students and teachers met in the city centre for carol singing to raise money for the homeless. They wore Santa hats and sang Christmas songs.
Week 7th Dec-11th December
Arts week continues this week. Lots of activities have been organised.
The 2nd years will be watching a play on the theme of “Bullying”. The choir will perform a Christmas concert for a local primary school.
All of the 2nd years will participate in a series of workshops in yoga, drama, art and music.
5th Years will be doing a Japanese workshop. They will be doing origami and learning some Japanese phrases. On the evening of Tuesday the 8th there will be a Christmas concert in the school followed by a mulled wine reception.
There will also be an annual Christmas party for the children of the staff with Santa as the special guest.
There will be a Big Sing for first years. A local primary school will be joining our school for this event.
On Friday 11th December the film “Snowman” will be shown to all the first years.
